Fatigue is a common and significant symptom in myositis, closely linked to disease activity.Research shows that fatigue in myositis patients moderately to strongly correlates with disease activity, muscle strength, and physical function.Importantly, fatigue improves as the disease responds to treatment, making it a key factor in assessing disease activity. This association is consistent across different myositis subtypes and is not influenced by age or gender.Managing fatigue is therefore essential for effective monitoring and treatment of myositisGeorge et al.(2025).Muscle weakness in myositis contributes to fatigue because weakened muscles cause other muscles to compensate, increasing tiredness.Although pain and fatigue may lead patients to avoid movement, exercise and physical therapy are beneficial.Regular physical activity reduces inflammation, improves stamina, and strengthens muscles, helping to counteract fatigue and muscle wasting.Avoiding movement can worsen symptoms, so appropriate exercise is critical in managing myositis.
